COP 2 - Summative Evaluation

COP2 SUMMATIVE EVALUATION

To begin Cop 2 having lectures and lessons before the specific tasks was really useful , i feel a lot more confident about writing short tasks after having revenant resources to help complete them. I think i have come a long way since first year. I struggled a lot writing short pieces last year but this year because we did five it was really good practice before the essay. I made a point of completing the certain studio tasks as soon as receiving them because all the information was fresh and my writing became more structured.

When beginning the essay i made sure i picked a topic i was really interested in so it was possible for gain i wide breadth of research. I chose to write about stereotypes & gender. I found it easier than last year to write my essay i think this was because i had that experience from first year and the opportunity to make them mistakes. This year i made sure i had a structured plan so that my essay would flow properly i submitted my first draft with 3000 words. I was so pleased with my feedback and i was advised it wasn't a necessity to change my essay and i could leave it how it was. I decided as i had a little spare time to add some more sources to widen my research and sources. I found it easy to add more research to fit in with specific elements i had spoke about , but more difficult to delete content i had written myself as i felt what i had written was relent i managed to get my word count down and finished on 3240.

When coming up with my concept for my practical element i found that was a strength of mine as i found creating a sexist cook book with a step ford wives theme was perfect way to portray a strong stereotype that still remains.
I designed my publication in a way that reflected the era using 1950s style images , typefaces and retro colours. I wanted to create as much synergy through my essay and my practical side as possible and feel as though my concept was strong.

A weakness of mine through the module would be time management i would of liked to spend slightly more time with finishing off my publication. I initially made a print slot to print my booklet as i was running out of time i had a print place in mind but as i was aware they might not of been able to print on the stock i had wanted i had to make sure i finished my work for my original print slot at uni. This made me rush slightly towards the end although i am really happy with my final piece planning ahead would of given me chance to perhaps do a print test.

Overall i think Cop2 has went well and I've learnt beneficial things especially how to triangulate effectively. I will use all of the skills and research i  have learnt throughout the year in Cop3. I feel a lot more confident about starting my dissertation and the third year after completing Cop2.
