Theory Into Practice - Design Choices

DEFINING VARIABLES

I decided to make sure i had all the appropriate measurements before i began designing for my practical.

PAPER SIZE/BOOK STAND

I first began by creating measurements for my paper size. Also drawing sketches of the type of book holder i would like to have made.

I decided the first paper sizes i tried were either to small or were to much of a square shape.
I finally was pleased with my last measurements which were W20xH18. I went and had a chat with Matt from woodwork and gave him my measurements he was happy to make me small booklet stand like the one in the image below to display my cook book.
After sorting my paper size and the booklet stand to go with it. I next began focusing on the details of my publication.

Name for my publication:

Typography Choices:

I decided to use Engagement typeface i preferred out of all the 1950s typeface i researched. I don't really like script typefaces but i felt it was the most appropriate choice to give a 1950s theme.

Colour Choices:

Retro colours - I will also use antique white stock and black text for body copy and sub headers.

Images Style:

Retro advertisements:

Sexualised and objectifying ads-

Now i have all the appropriate variables i can begin designing.
