Body Shop Brief - Research

RESEARCH

As i have chosen the body shop brief for responsive i thought it would be vital to begin some research such as what there company products look like there packaging and any existing advertising..

The Body Shop International PLC, known as The Body Shop, has 1,200 products in 2,500 stores in 61 countries. The company, which has its headquarters in Littlehampton, West Sussex, England, was founded in 1976 by Anita Roddick and is now part of the L'Oréal corporate group

In the early 1970s, Anita Roddick (then Anita Perilli) visited a shop in Berkeley, California selling naturally-scented soaps and lotions called The Body Shop. The Berkeley Body Shop run by Peggy Short and Jane Saunders used natural ingredients, and helped to employ and train immigrant women.

The natural, environmentally-minded and intimate cosmetics shop inspired Anita Roddick to open her own shop in the UK in 1976. In 1987, Roddick purchased the naming rights from the original Body Shop. From its first launch in the UK in 1976, The Body Shop experienced rapid growth, expanding at a rate of 50 percent annually.

The body shop packages there produces in a brown paper bags which are recyclable .
This is some design work to show how organic the company is and it uses earthy colours and and fresh products to make the body shop logo.

I also found some posters that had been created.

This poster specefially focuses on how ethical the company is and how you won't feel bad or guilty using it. unlike other companies. It says ' Making people feel food without the guilt since 1976'

This poster i found are particulary powerful they don't show anything about the actual product you can only tell is body shop because of the signifying logo. But this poster is powerful because of the message it is saying..

These posters also have powerful messages and use products to represent them.

I think powerful quotes are quite important when it comes to beauty because they influence women.
Body shop also have used one of the winners from britains next top model to represent there campaign.
100% Recyclable packaging.
